Guardians of females have to deal with several heat cycles and keeping their girl protected from unwanted males. Guardians of females will also have to be comfortable being away from their dog for an extended period of time (normally around 2-3 months each litter). The Guardian Family will need to learn the signs of a heat cycle and be willing to communicate, cooperate and coordinate with us to ensure a successful breeding. Male dogs can only mate with approved females, so the Guardian Home is responsible for keeping the male away from intact female dogs.
A guardian home is a family who will adopt a “pick of the litter” puppy to raise as their own with all the love and socialization needed for the dog to thrive. Blue Bay Labradoodles is looking for loving families who are interested in becoming pet owners for an Australian Labradoodle puppy to become a part of our program. If for some reason we decide not to breed the dog, he/she will then be placed with you and be spayed/neutered by Whispering Willows. The amount of litters a female will have will be determined first and foremost on the dog’s health, but typically 4-5 litters in the first 6 years. This will depend on the needs of the breeding program and she may not have a litter every year. To be considered as a member of the Guardian program for one of our breeding dogs, we require that you live within 150 miles of Paw Paw, Mi. All dogs and pups placed in this program must be indoor dogs, and never be left outside unattended. You must have reliable transportation, and a willingness to bring your dog/pup to us or meet part way when needed for breeding purposes.
